Get the Facts

VOTERS NEED TO KNOW:

Deb Haaland presents herself as a champion for transparency, ethics, and immigrant communities — but the people around her campaign tell a different story. Whether it’s elevating a business executive tied to ICE contracts or employing advisors accused of trying to suppress reporting into Jeffrey Epstein’s New Mexico operations, a pattern is emerging: questionable judgment, selective accountability, and a lack of transparency when politically inconvenient.

New Mexicans don’t need another Washington-style politician. They deserve someone who will tell the truth, answer tough questions, and enforce the law fairly and equally.

PAUL BACA & ICE

Deb Haaland built her national profile attacking Trump-era immigration enforcement and promising to stand with immigrant families. So why is her campaign elevating and promoting a corporate executive tied to a company that profits from ICE contracts?

Key Facts:

  • Paul Baca is COO of ADC LTD

  • ADC performs background investigations/security services

  • Federal spending records show ADC has received government contracts connected to ICE and DHS work

  • Baca appeared prominently in Haaland campaign materials and testimonial-style advertising -- here Paul praises Haaland’s support for small businesses

EPSTEIN / ZORRO RANCH

Deb Haaland publicly says perpetrators connected to Jeffrey Epstein’s activities in New Mexico should be investigated and held accountable. But when journalists investigate politically uncomfortable questions involving people close to her orbit, her senior campaign tries to shut it down. What are they hiding?

New Mexicans deserve transparency from their leaders, not Trump-style attacks on the press.

Key Facts:

  • Haaland has publicly called for accountability related to Zorro Ranch/Epstein matters

  • Journalist Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez’s article details how a senior Haaland advisor attempted to discourage or interfere with reporting tied to Epstein-related questions

Albuquerque Journal Editorial Board: Haaland Town Hall Snub Part of Disturbing Pattern

"Campaigns best serve voters when candidates take tough questions in unscripted settings. That is why it is frustrating — and increasingly disturbing — that Deb Haaland has refused to meaningfully debate her Democratic primary opponent, Sam Bregman. Last week, she took it one step further and canceled her Journal Town Hall appearance scheduled for next Friday." [Read full Editorial here]
